CGE Energy’s CEO personally donates $2M to YMCA of Greater Toledo
Posted on in NewsCGE Energy (OTCPink:CGEI) President and CEO, Bryan Zaplitny is personally donating $2 million dollars to the YMCA and JCC of Greater Toledo (YMCA). This most recent act of generosity is the latest in continuing support to a cause close to the heart of Zaplitny and his energy solutions company.
This donation is to bring awareness to the YMCA’s Net Zero Vision, which was developed to inspire the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) as well as bring sustainability to the YMCA’s mission. The CGE Energy CEO has dedicated himself to the cause and hopes this challenge and his donation will help inspire and ignite others to contribute or participate.
With a total gift of $2 million, to access the funds the YMCA is required to find matching donations of $2 million.
“We wanted to do our part to help the YMCA build on its excellent foundation and heritage, and we hope others will join us as we take the Net Zero Vision to the next level of inspirational greatness,” said Zaplitny. “Glen King [Chief Development Officer] of the YMCA is up for the challenge and is excited to meet with contributors and cast the vision.”
Slated for full operation in the 2016-2017 school year, the YMCA’s Net Zero Energy Experience will act as a total-immersion learning environment where students will discover the energy around them in a hands-on renewable energy laboratory as well as in their living quarters that show the effects of energy use in real-time. The students are then taking the learning back to their homes and classrooms.
In addition to his personal $2M donation to the YMCA and renewable energy laboratory, Zaplitny and CGE Energy have sponsored a guest home for contributors to experience the Net Zero Energy Experience. Zaplitny’s donation and matching donations will help fund a comprehensive energy project at YMCA Storer Camps to make the campus energy independent and eliminate its electricity bills. This will act as a pilot site and proving ground to take this program nationwide.
“Bryan’s donation enables us to continue to build excellence within the YMCA organization. We are grateful to him for his vision and foresight regarding the value of STEM education and the broader Midwest community,” said Glen King, Chief Development Officer for YMCA of Greater Toledo. “As donors match Bryan’s donation, this also a powerful way for organizations and individuals to spend end of the year tax dollars on charitable donations.”
