Vice President Joe Biden at the Caribbean Energy Security Summit in Washington

Vice President Joe Biden met with leaders of Caribbean nations Monday, at the Caribbean Energy Security Summit in Washington. The team here at CGE Energy took a few minutes out of our busy workday to hear Vice President Biden speak.

With the Caribbean’s high energy prices and the need to diversify their power supply, we have been watching this part of the world for quite some time.

In fact, we designed our WIND•e20 turbine to meet the needs of this Caribbean energy market. Our technology revolutionizes the industry with no cranes needed to install, collapsible blades for high winds and the ability to produce power where no grid-supply exists.

There is a great opportunity for SolarWorld Solar PV as well. Many of the island nation’s global horizontal irradiance, or GHI, ranges from 5 to 7 kWh per square meter per day. This is twice the potential per square meter than Germany, the current country with the largest solar capacity.

The need for energy efficiency measures like Cree LED is tremendous. With energy prices where they are, every kWh we can reduce has a significant impact on a country’s energy demand. This goes hand in hand with renewable installs and a combination of all these measures is the integrated energy solution we offer.

The Vice President said that the current energy sector has “created a moment of energy opportunity that hasn’t existed. Progress is possible and it’s possible to begin now – not a decade from now, but now.”
